If you would have told me 5 years ago that one day I would be writing a tutorial on how to apply fake lashes…
I never would have believed you! I was new mom who barely had time to shower let alone mess with makeup and lashes. I always loved getting dressed up, but makeup wasn’t really my thing. My every day look was easy! Blush, mascara, liner and gloss. If I was going out, I would wear lipstick. And besides the fake lashes that my makeup artist put on me for my wedding day, I don’t think I had ever worn fake lashes.
But that changed! A few years later… I was a stay at home toddler mom who desperately needed to find something for myself. I had a friend who had started selling makeup for a direct sales company (that I’m no longer affiliated with) and I joined under her for the makeup discount. I ended up really loving the makeup and decided to try and make some money with it! I didn’t… BUT in the process of trying, I started playing with makeup more and that led to my LOVE for fake lashes SO much that I went from never wearing them, to wearing them EVERY DAY! I even wore them while giving birth to my second child! Now I don’t consider myself an expert on most things, but after wearing fake lashes almost everyday for YEARS… I can confidently say, I KNOW lashes! And because I know and love them so much, I decided to start my own lash business Glam Girl Lash!
Are Magnetic or Glue Lashes Better?
This depends! When I started wearing lashes… there was only traditional glue on lashes! And those can be difficult if you don’t know the little tricks to applying them. They get easier with practice. But NOW there are so many products that make the process so much easier that anyone can feel comfortable applying them, even if you don’t wear them everyday!
There are different application methods depending on the type of lashes but I’m going to start with my personal favorite, Adhesive Liner! This is a GAME changer when it comes to false lashes! No Glue! No Magnets! It’s an eyeliner that holds like a glue! Seriously AMAZING! When I first heard about this, I was skeptical. I had tried and even carried magnetic liner lashes in my Lash Boutique. I liked them but as someone who wore fake lashes daily, I wasn’t sold on replacing my traditional glue on lashes with them (we’ll get into why later) But as soon as I tried the Magic Glam Adhesive Liner I threw out my glue and decided I was never going back to traditional way of wearing Lashes again! So since it’s the easiest way EVER, let’s start there…
The EASIEST way to apply fake lashes! EVER!

Did you see how easy that was? The smudge proof liner easily glide’s on with the felt tip! And since it has adhesive IN it, the liner HOLDS the lashes on just like a glue would! No heavy magnets! No waiting for glue to dry! And my favorite things about it is ANYONE can use it! If you can draw a line, you can wear fake lashes! And it works with any lashes! Besides lashes themselves… it is my favorite beauty product EVER!

The second easiest way apply lashes…
Magnetic liner and lashes
Magnetic Liner and lashes are almost as easy as adhesive Liner! In fact, before I discovered adhesive liner, magnetic liner lashes were my favorite! The liner has an element in it that makes it magnetic, so you basically apply the liner and attach the lashes, BUT not just any lashes will work! They have to have magnets attached to them! Usually when you buy the liner, the magnetic lashes will be included as a set, but not always. And if you should lose a lash, you would have to make sure to buy another pair of lashes with magnets on them!
I found the magnets to be heavy on my lids. If you’re someone who plans to only wears lashes occasionally, these would be just fine. But as someone who wears lashes everyday, “feeling” your the extra weight from the lashes can be annoying,.
Another reason these aren’t my favorite anymore… the hold on the magnets isn’t as strong as adhesive liner or glue with traditional lashes. Don’t get me wrong they still work! But I found that if the magnets on the lashes weren’t cleaned well and still had liner residue left from the last time they were worn, they wouldn’t stick very well. Other times the magnet would pull the liner off of your lid and the lashes would detach. And although they never came off because of wind, on a windy day I would always make sure to carry my liner with me, just in case. But even though carrying the liner with me was inconvenient at times, still didn’t make them any less easier to apply and they definitely got the job done! So if you’re really wanting to try magnetic liner lashes, I’d say give them a try!
Here is a tutorial I have on the magnetic lashes I carried in my Lash Boutique. I no longer carry them but you can still find them many places including Amazon!
And lastly (and maybe even least!) How to apply fake lashes with glue…
Ok let’s get this straight. When I say least… I’m not talking about traditional lashes themselves! No I absolutely LOVE lashes! That is why I have a Lash Boutique filled with beautifully thick, wispy and fluffy lashes! BUT applying them with glue? I’m so over it!
For someone who does it often, it’s easy. There are tricks that you learn along the way. F
First, cutting the lash. You should always do this no matter the application! The lash needs to fit your eye to work correctly. Once the lash is cut to fit, you can then apply glue BUT make sure it’s enough, but also not too much! This next part is pretty important… Once you have a good amount of glue, LET IT DRY! Not completely of course, but it needs to be tacky! If you put the lash to your eye when the glue is still wet, it will slide around. So as much as you will want throw your lash on right after the glue… DON’T! Wait about a minute… and then apply it! And if you can’t get it right away, don’t be discouraged. It does take some practice!
Here is s step-by-step tutorial I did on how to apply false lashes with glue
But even with practice, you have to wait in the glue to dry and sometimes it’s still messy. Also caring for your lashes is more work when you use glue. The glue sticks on the lashes and the glue builds up. And sometimes when you remove them, the glue can take your real lashes with it (OUCH!) So although it worked for me when there wasn’t a better alternative… now that there is an easier way I don’t think I’ll ever go back to wearing lashes with glue!
